Automatic Passive Cycle

Donated by the Psoriasis Association the Automatic Passive Cycle by Tera Fit has enabled us to improve our rehabilitation services and scope immensely.

The Passive Cycle is automated allowing paraplegics the freedom to cycle unassisted. The machine is equipped with a remote and has a variety of options including speed and direction control.

By inducing a cycling action The Passive Cycle facilitates movement of the hip and knee joints which are much needed in the case of paraplegic and stoke patients. Circulation to the lower extremities is also improved as well as helping to provide stimulation to weakened and stiff muscles helping to counteract spasms and cramping.

The Passive Cycle may also be used for the upper extremities as well.

With the aid of special arm attachments the cycle can be used as an upper body cycle. The Cycle is placed on a table and where required the patients hands are secured. This greatly benefits quadriplegic patients who are able to exercise their upper bodies with little assistance.
