TENS Therapy
The gym is in possession of a portable TENS Machine kindly also donated by the
Lions Club Durban Host.
Pain once diagnosed serves no apparent purpose, especially long lasting pain. With
the aid of the TENS machine electrical pulses are sent through the skin to the
underlying peripheral nerves and act on the body by interfering with the transmission
of pain signals. In doing so the TENS machine is able to help with the management
of pain making it a preferred treatment over the long term use of medications,
nerve blocks or surgery of chronic pain.
