Dedicated to serving the disabled since 1952.
About Saint Giles
Founded in 1952 by Kerry Malt, a disabled journalist, Saint Giles has dedicated itself to empowering disabled individuals in our community. Our journey began with compassionate home and hospital visits, and over the decades, we have grown into a comprehensive organisation committed to providing essential services and support.
At Saint Giles, we believe in the inherent potential of every person. Our mission is to uplift and empower disabled individuals through our diverse offerings, including the Remedial Therapy Centre, Work Centre, Educational Trust, Appliance Hire, and Charity Shop. Each service is designed to foster independence, dignity, and self-sufficiency.
As a Level 1 B-BBEE compliant organisation and a registered Non-Profit Company and Public Benefit Organisation, we are proud to serve our community while relying on the generosity of our supporters to continue our work.
Join us as we strive to create a world where everyone, regardless of ability, has the opportunity to thrive.
The history about our name
Saint Giles is named after a seventh-century hermit known for his compassionate work among the disabled, beggars, and lepers. A noble Athenian by birth, Saint Giles was canonized and became the patron saint of the disabled.
His legacy inspires our mission at Saint Giles, where we are dedicated to serving individuals with disabilities and ensuring they receive the care and support they deserve. Just as he devoted his life to helping those in need, we strive to empower our community and promote inclusivity.
Through our services, we honor the spirit of Saint Giles, fostering independence and dignity for every person we serve.
